• Mahatma Gandhi University approved sanction for offering one-year Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Library and Information Science

2005

• The Department of Library and Information Science was established, offering One Year Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Library and Information Science (BLISc) in affiliation with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

2014

• The Department started offering One Year Master’s Degree Programme in Library and Information Science (MLISc) with approval from MG University.

2018

• Two Days National Workshop on “E-Publishing using OJS” on 19-20 November 2018 by the Department of Library and Information Science in association with INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network) Centre

2019

• Completed Library Project at the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR) at Ernakulam.
• Two-day National Workshop on “Financial Management in Academic Libraries” jointly organized by the Department of Library and Information Science and Fr. Mosses Library on 13th and 14th December 2019.

2020

• The first integrated Two Year Master’s Degree Programme in Library and Information Science (MLibISc) under MG University was started by the department with a Lateral entry option to the third semester.
• Ceased admissions for the One Year Bachelor’s (BLISc) and Master’s Programmes (MLISc) in Library and Information Science
• Completed a Library Renovation Project at Aquinas College Edakochin with the participation of students.

2021

• Started a Diploma Programme in Library Automation (Linux, Koha, and DSpace)
• Completed a Library Project by reorganizing and setting up of Chavara Cultural Centre Library.
• Conducted a National Workshop on Library Automation Software - KOHA in collaboration with Fr. Moses Library, RCSS on 26th and 27th November 2021

2022

• Conducted an ICSSR-sponsored National Conference on ‘Documentation Science and Information Management from 26^th – 28^th May 2022.
• Completed a Live Library Setup Project at the Income Tax Library cum Resource Centre, Kochi
• Completed a Library Project at the District Congress Committee Office at Ernakulam.
• Conducted a National Workshop jointly with the Fr. Moses Library of RCSS on 26th November 2022. Dr. Margam Madhusudan, Professor of DLIS at the University of Delhi was the chief resource person.

2023

• National Seminar on “Role of Libraries on Academic Research and Publishing” on 10th March 2023 conducted by the Department in collaboration with Academic Library Association and Kerala College Librarians Association (KCLA).
• Awarded an ICSSR Minor Project for Dr. Joseph I Thomas, Asst. Prof. of the department on the topic ‘Assessing the Efficiency of Prison Libraries: A study with special reference to libraries in central jails in Kerala’.
• Initiated a book donation drive and donated 500 books for setting up a Library in the Psychiatry Ward of Medical College, Kalamassery as part of the initiative ‘Books for Healing’.
• Conducted One Day National Workshop on “Bibliometrics: An Essential Tool for Research” on 16th December 2023.
• Started a Capacity Building Programme Training Series on ‘Tools and Resources for Academic Research’ targeting LIS professionals, students, research scholars, and faculties.

2024

• Conducted One Day National Workshop on 'Exploring AI Tools for Research' on 7th September, 2024.
