The Department of Computer Science launched its three-year (six semesters) Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Program in 2001, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam, Kerala, India, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in New Delhi. The Department has consistently earned a "Platinum" rating in the AICTE-CII survey, reflecting its outstanding placement record and unique industry engagement initiatives. The MCA program at RCSS offers various specializations, producing graduates who are highly qualified for the software industry.
Starting from the 2020 admissions, the MCA program has transitioned into a two-year course, following the guidelines outlined in APH 2020-21 by AICTE, New Delhi.
Furthermore, the Department introduced a new initiative in the field of Data Science with the launch of the M.Sc. Computer Science (Data Analytics) program, affiliated with MG University, beginning in the academic year 2020-21.
In the year 2023, the department became a recognized research centre under the Mahatma Gandhi University. The Department is now expanding its offerings by introducing two new Four-Year Undergraduate PROGRAMS: BCA(Hons.) and B.Sc. Computer Science (Hons.) Data Analytics in the academic year 2024-25.
