Rijo is a health economist with a PhD in development studies from Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai and a post-doctoral fellowship from the University of California San Francisco. He is also a guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode and consults to the World Health Organization and other institutions on varied projects. He formerly worked as Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur and have held full-time academic positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the American Cancer Society, Atlanta, USA. Rijo has published extensively in several peer reviewed international journals.
