Documentation Club

DOCUMENTATION - BSW PROGRAMME

Taking into account the importance of documentation in organizations and human welfare agencies, BSW programme of Rajagiri has initiated Documentation Club with an aim to sharpen the documentation skill of social work students. The club has number of activities to its credit ranging from documentation of the daily events, activities organized by social work students in the field, maintaining social media networks and reporting events in newspapers.

Bhajan Club

The Bhajan club of Rajagiri started in the year 2006. It aims at rejuvenation of students where they can come and feel refreshing and can make their hearts sacred with a peaceful atmosphere. The club members also lead the prayer sessions of the formal induction programme of all academic programmes in Rajagiri, Deeksharambham and Samavartanam, the formal induction and finishing ceremony of the academic programmes respectively.

ENCON

ENCON Club, sponsored by the Kochi Refinery, is purely a voluntary non-profit group activity of students aimed at practicing energy conservation and environment protection. The main objective of this ENCON Club is to drive home the message of energy conservation and environment protection in the minds of students, by planning and organizing regular activities.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

Rajagiri has two units of NSS and was selected as one among the best NSS Unit Award in the year 2009 - 2010 and 2015 - 2016 in MG University. The NSS unit organizes a week long “Rural Sensitization Camp” and a series of regular activities every year in its adopted communities in Kalamassery Municipality. They also take part as volunteers for different social connect programmes conducted by different government departments and organizations.

Rajasadass (The people’s forum)

Rajasadass or The people’s forum provides opportunity for staff, students and other members of Rajagiri family to come together and air their views on a given issue there by creating a platform for critical evaluation and making comments on current social issues. The views and comments of experts in the respective fields enable the students to know different perspectives on the subject.

Red Ribbon Club (RRC)

Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in schools and colleges through which, students will spread awareness over HIV / AIDS. It envisages to instil charity mind among all the students to extend their able help towards developing healthy life styles, donating blood to all the needy by promotion of Regular voluntary blood donation. The RRC of Rajagiri focuses on educating the youth with correct, concise and adequate information and heighten their level of awareness about HIV/AIDS/STI/sexuality and other related issues and thus to eliminate myths and misconceptions. Sensitize the youth regarding care and support needs of PLWHA and instill in them the spirit of helping and supporting the people living with HIV & AIDS (PLWHA) and reduce the stigma and discrimination against them. The RRC of Rajagiri could organize and facilitate voluntary blood donation camps and mobilize the youth for voluntary blood donation in its neighborhood.

Rotaract Club

Rotaract simply means Rotary In Action, an affiliate of Rotary international. The purpose to Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical needs of their communities and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a frame work of friendship and service. The Rotaract Club of RCSS belongs to Zone 1 of Rotary District 3201 and was started in the year 2006.The club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cochin Beach Side. The club won several prestigious awards (best 20 projects, Navaratna President etc) of the Rotary District in 2009 and 2015. The club also was awarded with the Presidential Citation from Rotary International for its exemplary performance during 2014-15.

SWARAJ

With the aim of building up a pro people attitude and deepen the social interest of the social work students of Rajagiri, SWARAJ (Social Work Students Association of Rajagiri) plays a vital role. Taking into consideration the diversity of interest and according to the specialization and need of the community, SWARAJ organizes various enriching and thought provoking programmes for the whole Rajagiri family. SWARAJ hosts many eminent personalities from various spheres of life to accelerate the students’ and the campus’ social attitude in accordance with their views and to formulate within the students, clarity about the present social scenario.

Youth Red Cross

The College has three Units of YRC in which 150 students are members. Main activities are: Participation in Youth Red Cross Orientation & Annual Camps, Participation in training programmes like First Aid, Tree plantation, Socio Economic surveys, Palliative Care Day observation, Awareness campaigns, Blood Donation Camps, Oncology ward visits etc. Students also assist many NGOs in organizing special programs. The YRC Unit of Rajagiri (Unit No. 05) won the award for the Best Youth Red Cross Club in the State in 2015. It also bagged the Best Youth Red Cross Cadet, Best YRC Programme Officer along with the award for the Best Youth Red Cross Club at the district level.
