Loktantra - The people’s forum
The Social Work Department of the college initiated "RAJASADASS" as a unique platform for students to discuss the challenges faced by various communities. Originally designed to resemble a royal court where community representatives would present their issues to a king and his panel, the program provided valuable insights into the dynamics of advocacy. However, students recognized an opportunity to transform this concept into something more democratic and inclusive, leading to the creation of "Loktantra." Meaning "Democracy," Loktantra represents a new chapter in student-led dialogues, where social work students themselves represent diverse communities facing various challenges. In a parliamentary-style setup, they openly discuss issues and collaborate to devise solutions that can positively impact these communities. Loktantra is more than just a reimagined version of Rajasadass; it embodies the values of democracy, inclusivity, and equality. This platform enables students to engage in meaningful discussions, learn from each other’s experiences, and contribute to a lasting positive impact on society.
