Annapuranam is trained in development studies from the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore, India. She has more than twelve years of professional experience in research, teaching, industry and implementing developmental programmes. She has been engaged in research projects on the evaluation of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with NCERT, Informal Settlements and Governance with DFID, Rehabilitation Services for Women in distress with KEA and the impact of covid 19 on the school education of SC/ST students in Odisha with NITI Aayog. Her research work is at the interface of sociology and women health. She received ICSSR and Dr Ambedkar Post Doctoral Fellowship for her doctorate and post-doctoral work respectively. She is also a recipient of Prof. D.M. Nanjundappa Endowment Prize (2014) for academic excellence in Pre-Ph.D. Programme at ISEC, Bangalore.
