Holds a doctorate in library and information science from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India. He has over 20 years of professional experience in academic libraries and has published numerous articles in the reputed journals. His research focuses on bibliometrics / scientometrics, scholarly communication, research evaluation, and publication ethics. Dr. Elango has introduced several bibliometric indicators and successfully completed a major research project supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the NSTMIS scheme. He is also a reviewer for many international journals and has received the BEST REVIEWER award from the Journal of Information Science Theory and Practice. He visited South Korea twice and delivered a speech. He has organized two national level seminar / conference sponsored by ICSSR. A recent study identified him as one of India’s prolific scientists in the area of bibliometrics and figured in the global list of scientists by AD Scientific Index. Recently, he has joined the editorial advisory board of Heliyon, a multidisciplinary journal indexed in SCIE.
