He did his Ph.D. at Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (KSCSTE-JNTBGRI) under the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. Krishnakumar has 16 years of research experience. Dr. Krishnakumar has 3 patents granted to his credit and 1 patent published. He was actively involved in the Technology Development of a Polyherbal formulation with multiple therapeutic effects as hepatoprotective, antidiabetic, antioxidant and anti-fatigue based on Traditional Knowledge. He is the co-author of a Monograph published by KSCSTEJNTBGRI. He has contributed 8 book chapters and published 32 research papers in national and international journals. He also played roles of Principal Investigator/Co-PI in 6 research projects. He has membership in Indian Ecological Society. He is also associated with extension activities, training and skill development programmes such as Mushroom Cultivation, Coconut value-added products, processes etc. for individuals, farmers, women Self Help Groups and unemployed youth, Agri-entrepreneurship development, land to lab and lab to land strategies.
