Foreign Language Training

Learning foreign languages helps increase the career prospects. Most such professionals find easy employment in multi-national companies who need helps with translating or communicating. The knowledge of a foreign language equips one to easily communicate with people on personal basis as well and is a must have skill as such. At Rajagiri, students also are given the opportunity to master foreign languages. Currently foreign language courses are being offered in French by an instructor.

Summer Internship

The Summer Internship is an intensive two months training programme in corporate houses across India. Students get exposed to the fundamentals of business and get hands-on experience that supplements pedagogy.

Industry Interaction

Enriching industry interaction sessions with professionals, give students insights into the tried and tested avenues of business. The students are also active participants in the interaction programmes conducted by National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Kerala Management Association (KMA).

Outbound Training Programme

The outbound is designed to bring out management skills like planning, organizing, decision-making, communication, team building, and adaptability in the students. The harshness of the natural environment inculcates hardiness and discipline among students.

TECH SAVY TRADERS

From learning to earning: A trader’s journey, September 30th,2024

The session started off with a welcome speech delivered by Miss Rona, B.com chartered accountancy batch. The Head of the department of commerce, Dr C T Francis delivered the presidential address. Finally, the program was handed over to our guest of the day, Mr. S Nandagopal. He started off by sharing his journey of trading with stocks and securities. He talked about how he had a different perspective compared to his peers as more than just following the set route of career set by the society, he wanted to grow and explore. He had also highlighted the importance of acquiring a high-income skill. He also offered to provide mentorship classes under his established club to those who were interested in trading. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Abel Mathai, B.com ACCA batch. A token of gratitude was exchanged by our faculty to the guest.

Inauguration and a session on power of equities/job ready for BFSI, August 30th, 2024

On August 30, 2024, the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (RCSS) held the inauguration ceremony for the Investment, Finance Club & Financial Literacy Club. The event took place at 1:45 PM on the 7th Floor, Esperanza. The ceremony was attended by students from Model I Computer Applications (Semester 3), B.Com ACCA C and D Batches (Semester 1), and selected members from both clubs. Faculty Coordinators for the Investment and Finance Club were Nebu Cherian P and CA Danush P, while Dr. Sangeetha K. L and Mahesh K. M coordinated the Financial Literacy Club. Student Coordinators included Cyriac Puthumana and Heba S Mukthar for the Investment and Finance Club, and Amith Joe Binu and Asif for the Financial Literacy Club. The inauguration featured a keynote session titled "Power of Equities / Job Ready for BFSI" delivered by Mr. Joshy John, M.Com, MBA, LLB, a seasoned financial market expert and investment strategist with over two decades of experience in the financial markets. He began his career as a management trainee with Geojit Financial Services Ltd in 2003 and later served in the research department for over five years. In 2008, he joined Inditrade Capital and currently serves as the Zonal Business Head of Choice International Ltd. Mr. John shared his extensive knowledge on the significance of equity investment and its potential in wealth creation. He also discussed career opportunities in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector, providing insights on how students can prepare themselves to be job-ready for this dynamic field. The session witnessed the participation of enthusiastic students from various batches and selected club members, who gained valuable knowledge about equities and the BFSI sector. The interactive session allowed students to engage directly with the expert, enhancing their understanding of investment strategies and financial literacy. The inauguration ceremony was a resounding success, marked by a high level of participation and engagement from the students. The insightful session by Mr. Joshy John provided attendees with a deeper understanding of financial markets and career readiness, setting a positive tone for the activities of the Investment, Finance Club & Financial Literacy Club.

Overview:

The event was conducted by the Investment and finance Club of DCPS headed by faculty coordinators professor Nebu Cherian and Pradeep and student coordinators Cyriac Puthumana and Heba S Mukthar. The event was held at Esperanza hall at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences. It was a fruitful and well informed session by Ms.Sagorika Bose,Senior Manager Static Growth at Arth Nirmiti, Mr. Anand Bhasker the Senior Manager of Choice International LTD and Mr Joshy John, Zonal Head of Choice International LTD regarding financial inclusion, the power of compounding, being financially independent. The main objective of the workshop was to provide a setting in which students could understand the importance of financial inclusion, the power of compounding and the importance of financial independence. This session also helped the students to understand more about financial literacy, encouraging early financial habits to the students. The investment and finance club members showed up in great numbers for the event; in particular, 169 first-, second-, and third-year students participated. Their excitement was a significant factor in the session's overall success and lively atmosphere, as well as a reflection of their commitment to deepening their understanding of finance. The club members' enthusiastic participation reflects a wider development of young individuals' growing desire to learn more about and engage with financial inclusion on a meaningful level.

E-Commerce Insights: My Entrepreneurial Journey, August 29th,2024

The ceremony was on Thursday, 29th August 2024 at Carmel Hall, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery. The venue was occupied by 123 students. The ceremony started at 10:00am with the Rajagiri Anthem followed by a prayer song by our student Mr.  Jenin Jose Jitty. The MC (Master of Ceremony) was Ms. Mariann George, student representative of the E-Commerce Explorers Club. The welcome speech was delivered by Miss. Sharon Ann Sunil, student representative of the Entrepreneurship Development Club. Dr. C T Francis, Head of Department - Commerce & Professional Studies, delivered the felicitation speech. The dignitaries on the dais, Chief Guest - Mrs. Sophia Abraham, HoD – Dr. C T Francis Faculty coordinators- Mr. Ebin Babu P, CA Litty James, Ambily philomina I G ,  Student representative – Mr. Joel Mathew CG lighted the lamp.

Then the mic was presented to our esteemed Chief Guest Mrs. Sophia Abraham. She started with her entrepreneurial journey from stating her shift into the fashion world from the engineering background, starting a business in 2016 with her own savings, without any external financial support. And the sudden fall during the Covid-19 pandemic and the way she stepped into the online business world through WhatsApp Business. She saw an immense shift in the number of sales after getting into e-commerce. She has now successfully completed 8 years of being an entrepreneur and has a customer base of over 5,00,000 across her online pages and two stores. The students had a very engaging and interactive session with her.

The token of love was handed over to the Chief Guest Mrs. Sophia Abraham by Dr. C T Francis, Head of Department - Commerce & Professional Studies. Lastly, the ceremony was concluded at 10:50 am after the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Joel Mathew C G, the student representative of the E-Commerce Explorers Club. The beautiful moments were perfectly captured by the Rajagiri Studio and all the technical aspects were controlled smoothly by the staff. The event was well organized by Miss. Karthyayani S, the student coordinator of the E-Commerce Explorers Club.

Lead Forward

Lead Forward, August 16th, 2024

The Leadership League Club Inauguration 2024-2025, titled "Lead Forward," was held on 16th August 2024 at Chavara Hall from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm. The event began with the recitation of the Rajagiri Anthem, creating an inspiring atmosphere for the gathering. Rebekah Sunil, a student of Model II Finance and Taxation Semester III, anchored the event, which commenced with a warm welcome speech by Student Coordinator Rintha Femin. The Lighting of the Lamp ceremony was performed by the Chief Guest, Hareesh Varma, Manager HR and Sub ISU HR Head BFSI, Tata Consultancy Services, Kochi along with Student Coordinator Rintha Femin and Faculty Coordinators Udisha O, Tomy Thomas, and Akhila Bai A.

The session continued with a thought-provoking speech by Hareesh Varma, who emphasized the importance of essential leadership skills and encouraged students to recognize and nurture their leadership qualities. He elaborated on the traits that define effective leaders, such as vision, resilience, and empathy and shared real-world examples to illustrate these qualities in action. Varma also highlighted the role of continuous learning and self-improvement in developing leadership potential, urging students to actively seek out opportunities for growth and mentorship. His engaging talk not only inspired the audience but also provided practical insights that students could apply in their personal and professional lives. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sreya Ponnu Thomas , another Semester III student of Model 2 Finance and Taxation.

Green Oasis – Garden Opening

Green Oasis – Garden Opening, August 13th, 2024

On August 13, 2024, the Nature Enthusiast Club of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences inaugurated its flagship project, a beautiful flower garden located behind the Centre of Professional Studies. The garden was created to promote environmental awareness and provide a peaceful space for relaxation. The inauguration was led by Dr. C.T. Francis, Head of the Department of Commerce and Professional Studies, who delivered a speech and participated in the ceremonial planting of flowers. The event was attended by club members, and teachers-in-charge, Lakshmi Priya Ma'am and Revathi Ma'am and, shared their perspectives on the club's future activities. The garden features a variety of flowers, including Bamboo, Lotus, Hibiscus, and Marigold, and is designed to foster unity among nature lovers. The club aims to promote environmental awareness, create a sustainable campus, and provide a platform for eco-friendly activities. The inauguration of the garden is seen as a significant milestone for the club, which hopes to inspire a deeper appreciation for nature and sustainable practices through various activities and initiatives

Budget Lecture – Union Budget 2024, July 25th,2024

Introduction The Budget Lecture on the Union Budget 2024 was organized by Malayalam Manorama at Le Meridien Hotel, Kochi. The event featured Shri Dharmakirti Joshi, Chief Economist at CRISIL, an S&P Global Company, as the resource person. The lecture provided valuable insights into the current Union Budget and its implications.

Participation and Organization The Sustainability and Social Responsibility Club (SSRC) arranged for 20 students to participate in this informative session. Faculty coordinators Dr. Bharathi Rajan and Dr. Preetha, along with the club members, attended the lecture. The college provided bus facilities for the participants.The lecture was highly engaging and offered a comprehensive overview of the Union Budget 2024. Shri Dharmakirti Joshi, with his extensive experience and deep understanding of economic affairs, highlighted key economic policies such as tax reforms, government expenditure plans, and measures to boost various sectors like agriculture, industry, and services. He also discussed fiscal strategies, including budget deficits, public debt management, and fiscal consolidation efforts. One of the critical areas covered was the budget's impact on infrastructure development and social welfare programs. Shri Joshi provided insights into how these policies could affect employment rates, income distribution, and overall economic growth. The session was particularly beneficial for students, as it provided them with a broader understanding of the budget's nuances and its role in shaping the economy. Students were able to grasp the interconnectedness of budgetary decisions and their real-world implications, enhancing their analytical and critical thinking skills.

Ways of Effective Wealth Creation – Mutual Funds, July 23, 2024

On July 23, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, a highly engaging talk session titled "Ways of Effective Wealth Creation - Mutual Funds" was held, attended by 121 students from B.com (3rd and 5th semester) and conducted by Venugopal Rayirath, the speaker of the session and a renowned finance and investment expert. Sponsored by HSBC Mutual Fund on behalf of SEBI, the session covered essential topics such as the structure, types, and benefits of mutual funds, effective investment strategies like systematic investment plans (SIPs), and the regulatory framework provided by SEBI for investor protection. Venugopal emphasized the importance of disciplined saving, diversification, professional management, and a long-term investment perspective, while also addressing students' queries in an interactive Q&A session, ultimately empowering them with knowledge and practical guidance for achieving financial growth through mutual funds.

Green Future: E-Waste Collection Drive

Green Future: E-Waste Collection Drive, July 11th,2024

The Sustainability and Social Responsibility Club, in collaboration with Young Indians and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), organized an event titled "Green Future: E-Waste Collection Drive." The event aimed to promote sustainable practices and encourage the community to contribute to environmental conservation by properly disposing of electronic waste.

Objective

The primary objective of the E-Waste Collection Drive was to reduce environmental pollution, promote recycling, and support community green initiatives. The event also sought to raise awareness about the importance of proper e-waste disposal and its positive impact on the environment.

The event saw active participation from students, faculty members, and community residents. Participants were encouraged to bring various types of electronic waste, including old mobile phones, broken laptops, defunct chargers and cables, non-working printers, outdated TVs and monitors, and any other electronic waste. The week-long E-Waste Collection Drive was a significant success. A considerable amount of electronic waste was collected, which will be processed and recycled properly. The event not only helped in managing e-waste but also educated participants on the importance of sustainable practices and responsible disposal of electronic products

RAISE: Rajagiri Alumni Inspiring Student Entrepreneurs

RAISE: Rajagiri Alumni Inspiring Student Entrepreneurs, July 5th,2024

The event titled RAISE (Rajagiri Alumni Inspiring Student Entrepreneurs) was organized by the Rajagiri Entrepreneurship Development Club (REDC) in collaboration with the ED Club, Department of Commerce and Professional Studies at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous). The program aimed to inspire and guide students towards entrepreneurial endeavors by connecting them with successful alumni who have ventured into the field of entrepreneurship.

Mr Adarsh Saji chairman of the miracle institute for research and development, was the keynote speaker for the event. His experience and insights provided valuable guidance to students interested in pursuing entrepreneurship. As an accomplished alumnus of Rajagiri College, Mr. Saji's journey from a student to a successful entrepreneur served as a beacon of inspiration for the attendees.

MAGNEQ- Inter Collegiate Management Fest

MAGNEQ is an Inter Collegiate Management Fest  conducted by Association of Commerce Students of Rajagiri (ACSR),Department of Commerce and Professional Studies . The event is intended for showcasing the talents of students in various fields of commerce like marketing and management. The objectives of the event are:

a. To showcase the academic as well as non-academic talents of students.

b. To create a platform for mutual interactions and sharing of experience.

c. To inspire young people to develop their managerial skills.

SPLENDORE-National Grad Fest

SPLENDORE is an annual national fest organized by Rajagiri College of Social Sciences since 2016. This theme-based inter-school and collegiate fest organized in two days in the month of October . The first day is for students from Higher Secondary schools and the second day for Graduate students. The main objective is to showcase the talents and creativity of school and college students and facilitate interaction among them. SPLENDORE is co-ordinated by the Graduate Departments of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Social work, Commerce, Business Administration and Psychology). Prior to the SPLENDORE, flashmobs, shows and basketball matches (Fr. Moses Trophy) are held as an off start. Events of SPLENDORE include Treasure Hunt, Mock Press, Theme Dance/Synchro Dance, Spell Bee, Jam, Quiz etc., besides games and exhibits. The participants get the unique opportunity to foster their sportsman spirit and showcase their skills and win cash prizes.
