She has retired from St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam as an Associate Professor with 21 years of teaching experience in two different departments.  In 2009, Dr. Leena was appointed permanent faculty in the Department of Home Science and Centre for Research. She has 17 years of research experience and currently she is a research guide at MG University Kottayam. 2 of her scholars were awarded Ph.D and 2 more are doing their research under her guidance. She cleared the level eligibility test (SET) in 2002 and the National level eligibility test (NET)in 2005 and holds her PhD from Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal in 2009 for her research titled “Fast Food Consumption among Adolescent Girls and the factors affecting them in an urban city of Kerala”. She has published more than 25 research papers in reputed journals and published more than 85 articles in various magazines and newspapers. She has served as invited speaker for  many national level seminars and served as resource person for more than 50 workshops and technical sessions. Her areas of research interest include food and nutrition, public health, ergonomics, resource management, energy and environment, women empowerment and consumer studies. She has attended around 25 plus international seminars and  more than 9o National seminars organized by various institutions . Served as assistant coordinator and coordinator of various programmes of the IGNOU study centre for more than 12 years. Currently, she is an empanelled evaluator of various IGNOU programmes and a consultant coordinator of the PG Diploma in Counselling Psychology course at the Sub- Centre for Continuing Education, Kerala, sub-centre at St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous) Ernakulam. She has many research publications and more than eighty articles in reputed journals, magazines and newspapers. She is currently working as the academic coordinator of all undergraduate programmes and also acts as vice–president of Rajagiri Staff Welfare Association.
