Dr. S. Amalraj is Scientist B at the department of Bioscience of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (autonomous), Kalamassery, Kochi, Kerala. He specialized in phytochemistry, natural product drug design, and molecular pharmacology. He completed his doctoral studies in Botany at Bharathidasan University, Tamil Nadu, India, His professional experience includes serving as Junior Research Fellow on a SERB-sponsored project at A. Veeriya Vandayar Memorial Sri Pushpam College, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India, and as a Research Associate at Purple Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Subsequently, he pursued postdoctoral research in phytochemistry and drug design at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Kalamassery, Kerala, India. His research is focused on the extraction, profiling, and bioactivity evaluation of plant-derived natural products using advanced analytical techniques such as GC-MS, HPLC, LC-MS, and FT-IR. He is also proficient in molecular docking, dynamics simulation, and ADMET prediction, employing tools like Schrodinger, GROMACS, MOE, PyMOL, and Chimera to elucidate molecular mechanisms and discover novel drug candidates. His work extends to in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, where he evaluates antidiabetic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer activities using cell culture and rodent models. He is actively involved in green nanotechnology, focusing on eco-friendly synthesis of nanoparticles for biomedical applications, and applies systems biology and network pharmacology to integrate complex biological data. He has contributed significantly to phytotherapeutics through more than 50 publications in reputed journals, holds 3 patents on novel nanoparticle-mediated bioactive formulations, and serves as an editorial board member for The Open Biotechnology Journal.
