Designation : Assistant Professor (Scientist-D)

Qualification : Ph.D

Email-ID : prathiviraj@rajagiri.edu

Dr. R. PRATHIVIRAJ has received his M.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the Department of Bioinformatics, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. Dr. R. Prathiviraj completed his Post-Doctoral Fellowship (DST-SERB–NPDF, 2019–2022) and served as a Research Associate (DBT–India-UK Collaborative Project, 2022–2025) at the Department of Microbiology, Pondicherry University. His area of research mainly focuses on Evolutionary, Structural Biology, Molecular Systems Engineering, NGS, and Metagenomics. His current research work deals with the development of microbial cell factories and bioprocess technology for producing biofuel, bio-refineries, probiotics, and recombinant therapeutics using in silico organisms. It is clearly facilitating the use of targeted genetic modifications in cell factories with desirable phenotypes to increase the production yield or robustness in the heterologous hosts. Also, he is familiar with handling big data like multi-omics, such as genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, metagenomics, and transcriptomics data for analysis. By proving his expertise, he has published 80+ research and review articles in peer-reviewed, reputed journals with a cumulative impact factor of 250 and an H-index of 18. He has eight years of teaching and research experience and has received awards, including the India Prime Icon–Young Researcher Award (2021) and the InSc Research Excellence Award (2020). Dr. Prathiviraj is also an active reviewer and editorial board member for several international journals. His work integrates computational tools with biological insight, advancing the understanding of microbial interactions, sustainability, and biotechnological applications.
