Doctoral Centre in Social Work
Rajagiri College of Social Sciences is a recognized centre for Doctoral Research under Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam via Order No. AC.AII-1/504/87 dated 6.5.1988 for Social Work, Sociology and allied Social Sciences. The university committee on Research and Development after inspection of College research centre and the research supervisors, recommended to continue approval and recognition of the centre vide order 1421/ACA6/2023/MGU dated 07-02-2023.
The Centre facilitates Research Scholars (Full time and Part time) registered for PhD to carry out research on the subject approved by the University leading to the PhD degree. The Centre has been thus functioning smoothly for more than 25 years with a continuous annual registration of scholars for Social work and Management disciplines.
The Center has the service of six Research Guides in Social work. The Centre has to its credit 48 scholars awarded Doctoral degrees in Social Work from 1990 onwards.
Facilities for the Scholars at the Centre
The College has libraries in both the campuses and has an impressive collection of 29,700 books, and 171 journals, 130 CD’s and periodicals apart from the various Electronic Databases like EBSCO, JSTOR, QUESTIA to name a few. Our Computer Centres with a sizeable collection of computers, all in network (Internet and Intranet) cater to the needs of the learners.
Bi-Annual Doctoral Scholar's Review Meet
It is convened bi-annually under advance intimation to all the registered scholars to monitor their progress in research. The supervising guides are present during the Research Scholars' meeting. The scholars nearing the submission of their thesis are allowed to make a detailed formal presentation of their research. All the scholars must attend this meeting, and those unable to participate in these meetings are expected to inform the Head of the Centre in writing.

Rajagiri Research Forum
The Rajagiri Doctoral Centre aims to provide research scholars ample opportunity to develop their research abilities, knowledge, and disposition. The Rajagiri Doctoral Center introduced the Rajagiri Research Forum to foster exchanges and interactions that are relevant to research. This new effort will serve as a complementary initiative to the currently offered programmes. As an outcome, research scholars will be able to interact with highly motivated and knowledgeable researchers. At the forum, which will stimulate research orientation and scientific debate, there will be a gathering of experts, those interested in pursuing research careers, and organisations actively engaged in rigorous research. The primary activity of the platform consists of a series of informal gatherings initiated by the research scholars voluntarily. During these sessions, each scholar offers insights into their research area, methodology, techniques, and experiences with the other scholars. This forum will facilitate the scholars in indulging in constructive conversations on research. In addition, the experts will also share the theoretical and practical wisdom they have gathered over their journey as a researcher. This forum is open to participants, such as faculty members from various institutions, research guides, researchers, and representatives from relevant research organisations, to share their insights on research.
