Dr. Sabeela Beevi U is a scientist-E at the Department of Bioscience of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (autonomous), Kalamassery, Kochi. Previously, she worked as a scientist at DBT-BRIC—Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development, Imphal, Manipur (2016-2023). She obtained her PhD degree in biotechnology from Cochin University of Science and Technology and completed her PhD studies at CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology, Trivandrum. She worked as a visiting scientist at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in 2015. She received several national and international awards. She has 60 publications in SCI journals, which include book chapters, 40 international conference communications, and 17 invited talks, along with an h-index of 24 and over 3300 citations on Google Scholar. She edited/authored two books (international). Recently she was recognized as one of the top 2% of the most influential scientists in the world in a list published by Stanford University, USA, in collaboration with Elsevier, in 2024 and 2025. She received several project funds from DBT, ANRF, BPCL, BRSI, and KSCSTE. She is a recognized reviewer in 60 SCI journals: Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the American Chemical Society, and Taylor & Francis Group. She has 17 years of research experiences from different national and international R&D institutions. Her areas of research interest include biofuels from biomass (lignocellulose/microalgae), carbon capture and sequestration, circular bioeconomy, sustainable bioengineering, environmental bioremediation, waste to wealth, microbial technology, bioprocess engineering, and industrial enzymes.
