Dr. Stanislaus Antony Ceasar is specialized in plant molecular biology & biotechnology. He has completed a Ph.D. specializing in plant genetic engineering at the University of Madras, India. Dr. Ceasar’s research focuses on the improvement of cereal crops, especially millets, using genetic and genomic tools. He was the first one to develop a gene transfer system mediated by Agrobacterium for finger millet as part of his Ph.D. study. Dr. Ceasar studied the plant phosphate transport mechanism through the EU-funded Marie Curie Fellowship program with the help of collaborators at the University of Leeds, UK. Dr. Ceasar is also collaborating with national and international teams of researchers on a wide range of other projects to strengthen food security. Dr. Ceasar is globally known for his works on millets and nutrient transporter characterization. He has published more than 150 articles, having citations over 4200 and an H-index of 37. Dr. Ceasar has been listed among the top 2% of cited scientists by Stanford University, USA, since 2022. Dr. Ceasar has won several awards, such as the Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Union, the World University Network-Research Mobility Program (WUN-RMP) Award from the University of Alberta, Canada, the Marie Curie Fellow-Visiting Title from the University of Leeds, UK, the International Travel Grant from the Biochemical Society, London, UK, the DBT-CTEP International Travel Grant from DBT, Govt. of India, the Academic Visitor from the University of Leeds, UK, and the BELSPO Non-European Postdoctoral Fellow from the Federal Science Policy Office (BELSPO), Belgium. Dr. Ceasar is an elected fellow of the Biochemical Society, London, UK. He has guided many research scholars and handled many projects from national and international funding agencies.
