An online faculty development programme on Ms Excel Essentials with statistical analysis for academicians was organised by Centre for statistical analysis (CSA) and Department of Statistics, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery from 25th to 27th April 2022 through virtual platform. There were more than 160 participants from more than 50 Institutions and Organisations across 14 States in India. It was a three day faculty development programme with 12 sessions in total where various functionalities of MS Excel and topics related to statistical analysis were discussed. It was a hands-on learning experience for the participants.

The programme began with the inauguration ceremony. The Ceremony started with the Rajagiri anthem, followed by a welcome speech by Ms. Jelina Alphonsia Paiva, first year MSc Statistics with Data Science and a brief introduction about the CSA and the department was given by Ms. Litty Adens, first year MSc Statistics with Data Science. The inauguration speech was delivered by Fr. Dr. Joseph M.K., HOD Department of Social work and co-ordinator of Department of statistics, RCSS.

The resource person for the first two days was Mr. Roshan Ravi, Assistant professor, Department of Commerce and Professional studies, RCSS. The first day topics consisted of Introduction to Ms Excel and basic advanced Excel functions to MS Excel. The sessions also included topics about types of referencing, cleaning of data and data validation. The following day focused on topics such as pivot table, text formatting and practical applications in day to day tasks through various case studies and modelling Excel sheets for customized applications. The second day consisted of sessions concentrated more on the part of statistical analysis and the resource person for the same was Dr. Jitto Jose, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, RCSS. The basic statistics theory as well as descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, statistics tests and ANOVA was well explained. These sessions also included the demonstration of statistical analysis of these in Ms Excel by Mr. Roshan Ravi. The participants were given an opportunity at the end of each session to raise their queries and doubts.

The three day FDP was concluded with a valedictory speech by Dr. Bennet Jose, Assistant Professor, Department of Statistics, RCSS.
