CHILD STUDIES

As part of the International Conference on Child Studies, organised by the Department of Languages, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), a panel discussion titled “Growing Up in Uncertain Times: Childhood at the Intersection of Digital Life and Social Vulnerability” will bring together voices from parenting, law enforcement, and the legal profession to reflect on the contemporary challenges faced by children.

The panel aims to critically engage with questions of digital exposure, safety, rights, and social vulnerability, while foregrounding practical perspectives from professionals working closely with children and families.

Panel Members:

  • Ms Aswathy Gigi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kochi
  • Ms Amrutha K. Francis, Family Life and Parenting Coach
  • Adv. Parvathy Menon, Advocate, High Court of Kerala

The session will be moderated by Dr Reena Merin Cherian, Associate Professor, Department of Social Work, RCSS, who will guide the discussion towards an interdisciplinary understanding of childhood in rapidly changing social and digital contexts.

The panel promises to be a timely and thought-provoking engagement, addressing urgent concerns around childhood, protection, parenting, and policy in an era marked by uncertainty and digital saturation.
